Just like a camping tent, our AirHaven awnings have all stitched seams sealed for water resistant. Our AirHaven awnings are seam taped at our factory anticipating use in wet weather.
In 2022, we began testing the awning in the field with rain and snow, we realized they are best weather proofed by adding seam sealant too.
We seam seal all of our vehicle awnings before they ship. We expect each awning to be water resistant before we send them to you. However, more sealants may need to be applied over time.
We have researched liquid seam sealer options. Our choice is a water-based polyurethane (PU).
A liquid water-based seam sealer option is best for light weight polyester and nylon. We use nylon and polyester ripstop and PU coated canopies.
This sealant works great. It brushes on milky white, and then dry's clear. We apply liberally. It works well to keep the water out. We recommend re-applying this sealer on occasion.
Silicone-based seam sealer options are not a good choice. Silicone does not have the lightweight characteristics we want. And it can have problems adhering to fabric.

"I got this awning a week ago and everything about it is well thought
out! It’s takes me 2 minutes to unpack and set up, and once it’s up
it’s isn’t going anywhere. Snow, rain, wind – it can handle anything.
Can’t wait to take this on many more van-ventures!" --Eric
